Transmitting and using electricity

The notes sheets below explain the difference between AC and DC electricity (alternating current and direct current) .The next three sheets explain how the plugs and wiring around our homes are designed to be safe and efficient including the function of the neutral and earth wires.

The final four sheets explain how alternating current electricity is generated and why it is essential to be AC rather than DC. That is because we have to use transformers which only work with AC  which are in turn essential to send electricity around the country and to provide an appropriate voltage for the machines we use in factories and at home.
