General physics information
- The educational site of the institute of physics containing a wealth of information, news and links www.physics.org/
- www.iop.org The site of The Institute of Physics with a wealth of information, hot topics and many other links. This includes a comprehensive explanation of
- why you might wish to study A level physics.
- NASA Is (as you may have guessed) the site for The American Space Agency and has a fantastic collection of images, explanations and video on all things astronomical.
- A site of The American Physical Society. A large site of images, video and explanations on a wide range of physics topics and news suitable for school students. Physics central.
- The American Physical Society. The main site of the society for advanced research and development topics.
- www.rapidtables.com The site is all about electronics and electric circuits. A good reference resource.
- Physics for Kids: Simple Machines in Automobiles is a single page on a auto part vendor site but the strength is that it has many links to good illustrated explanations of how simple machines work. Be aware that one or two of the links are now defunct.
Physics links for Educational sites with notes and explanations
- All of the following have A level notes or Physics notes at A level standard.
- www.s-cool.co.uk/a-level/physics A long standing site with good quality notes. The only drawback is the slightly intrusive advertising.
- A large collection of notes on a very wide selection of A level physics topics with images and video clips. www.cyberphysics.co.uk/
- http://physicsnet.co.uk/ A wide selection of physics notes for both A level and GCSE with video links.
- Physics revision is a page on this site with some suggestions of how you can make your (usually very tedious) revision time more effective. The page includes a list of suggested dos and don'ts. The suggestion do not just apply to physics but to any subject.
- BBC Bitesize is a huge education site with excellent materials and explanations. The BBC Physics section here is a small part of it but is in itself a huge resouce for students up to the age of 16 (and indeed older)
- Is the BBC website for higher level / advanced level physics revision www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/higher/physics/
- http://homeschoolersresources.blogspot.co.uk/p/physical-science.html An American site which has not been updated for a while but with lots of links to notes and video clips.
Examination specifications and past papers
The following are the examination board physics links, specifically for Advanced level or Higher level papers.
All students (and all teachers of course) should have a copy of the syllabus close at hand, particularly during revision.
